If you are planning to visit Oklahoma Tulips in Harrah to pick your own tulips this spring, you’ll be glad to know that it is a pretty straight-forward journey. It’s a quick and easy drive that only takes about 30 minutes, making it the perfect day trip for those living or staying in Oklahoma City. While the distance may not be far, the route you take will depend on your location in the metro area. In this article, we will talk about three of the most common routes from Oklahoma City to Oklahoma Tulips in Harrah.

Option 1: Follow I-40

One of the most commonly used routes to travel from Oklahoma to the tulip farm is by taking I-40 East. Since this particular interstate spans the entire state of Oklahoma from Texas to Arkansas. Most travelers coming from the east will likely find this route most convenient. For the sake of this article, we’ll begin directions from the Oklahoma City.

Directions: To get to the Oklahoma Tulips from Oklahoma City, start by getting on I-40 and heading east towards Fort Smith. After leaving Oklahoma City proper, continue driving for around 20 miles until you reach exit 172 for Harrah. Once you’ve exited the interstate, take a left turn onto Harrah Road at the stop sign. Stay on this road for approximately four miles until you reach 29th Street, then turn left. You’ll find the Oklahoma Tulips on your left-hand side, opposite Harps Food Store.

The same directions also apply if you are traveling on I-40 West towards Oklahoma City. You will still need to take exit 172 towards Harrah, and then travel north until you reach 29th Street. Once you are on 29th Street, the Oklahoma Tulips will be on your left-hand side, just across from Harps Food Store.

Travel Time: Approximately 30 minutes

Option 2: Follow 29th Street

For visitors coming from the Midwest City area, this route option may be more convenient. Additionally, this route provides an excellent alternative if traffic on I-40 is delayed.

Directions: To reach the Oklahoma Tulips from Midwest City, start by traveling east on 29th Street. While most major intersections will cross 29th Street, taking Reno to Choctaw Road and connecting from there will likely be the quickest option. Upon reaching the intersection of Reno and Choctaw, turn south and continue on Choctaw Road until you reach 29th Street. This will be approximately 2 miles ahead. At 29th Street, turn east and travel for just under 6 miles. Oklahoma Tulips will be located on your right-hand side. If you pass Harps, you know you have gone too far.

Travel Time: Approximately 25 minutes

Option 3: Kilpatrick Turnpike

If you are visiting from the north side of Oklahoma City, particularly from Edmond, this option may interest you. While technically the fastest route from the Edmond area, it may only save you a few minutes of travel time as opposed to just taking I-35 or I-235 to I-40 and following the above directions. In my opinion, there’s no need to pay a toll for such a short duration. Nevertheless, it can serve as a great alternative if there’s a wreck or if traffic is congested. We will start directions at the I-35 interchange.

Directions: To reach the Oklahoma Tulips using this route, begin by entering Kilpatrick Turnpike South from the I-35. Drive for approximately 14 miles until you reach the town of Luther. Here, keep left and enter Kickapoo Turnpike. Continue along Kickapoo Turnpike until you reach exit 134 to SE 29th, which is approximately 10 miles away. Once you take exit 134, drive east on SE 29th until you arrive at the Oklahoma Tulips. The farm will be on your right-hand side. If you pass Harps, it means you have gone too far.
