Is The Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo a Bed & Breakfast or a Hotel?
One of the first things you will notice is that Mulberry Inn feels more like a bed and breakfast than it does a hotel. Unfortunately, you are not served breakfast in bed nor are special requests taken in a cottage kitchen downstairs. (There is no cottage kitchen.) That’s ok though. That’s not what they are nor what they advertise to be.
If you’d like a bite to eat, just walk a couple of blocks over to Latte Da’ Coffee House. Or, if you are lucky, the Mulberry Wine Bar next door will be serving a pop-up brunch. For a lighter case of the morning munchies, the hotel does offer Greek yogurt and fresh fruit along with coffee and tea at a cute little coffee bar set up downstairs.
The experience is much more authentic than your average hotel. The 1901 building, restored and renovated, retains much of its original character. From the moment you step inside, you’ll realize the Mulberry Inn is more than just another place to stay a day or two. It’s a place that transports you, however briefly, back to days gone by.
Staying at the Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo, Oklahoma
There are two floors at the Mulberry with rooms on each. During a recent girls trip to Tishomingo, my friend and I spent the weekend upstairs in ‘The Judge’ room. It’s one of the larger rooms with a king bed and ensuite bathroom. There is a grand stairwell of solid wood leading to a second floor with three uniquely furnished rooms. Exposed brick walls and creaky wood floors remind you that you’re in a building full of history. If you tend to ponder the past, you can’t help but wonder who walked those halls and what it was like in its heyday.
Each of the rooms at the Mulberry Inn is uniquely decorated and named after a song or a place that means something to Miranda Lambert. The rooms are unique to themselves, each furnished with a combination of modern amenities and vintage decor that are befitting of the property’s eclectic vibe. You’ll find everything from rustic details to modern amenities, such as queen-sized beds with comfy linens and antique decor combined with flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi.
Would I Stay Here Again?
Absolutely. It’s nice to find a place that stands out from the crowd and the Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo is one of those places. Upstairs, there is a lounge area set up with furniture like cozy couches and chairs. The atmosphere is very laid back and cozy. I’d come back just to get away and hang out in the lounge with a book or on the balcony with a glass of wine. I also foresee myself revisiting on a quick couples getaway or another girls trip.
Who Should Stay at the Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo?
If you are seeking a unique experience for your stay, Mulberry Inn fits the bill. The historic downtown building turned Inn is full of character and equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Travelers who are looking to spend some quality time together will appreciate the intimate setting without compromising on location. Who Should Not Stay at the Mulberry Inn in Tishomingo?
Some travelers prefer a completely modern experience. If this is you, you may want to try one of the newer Airbnb’s. Stay Golden Inn just down the street is a great spot if you want to stay downtown but still have a completely modern experience. While the Mulberry Inn has modern amenities, part of its distinctness is in its historic nature. You’ll need to be able to accept things like the creaky wood floors and that not all rooms will have their own bathroom. Additionally, there is no elevator. If climbing stairs is an issue, you’ll need to book a room on the main floor.
